O2 gets UK exclusive on HTC SmartThursday, February 25th 2010 The HTC Smart will be available on O2 in April 2010. O2 and HTC have agreed a partnership to offer one of the Taiwanese manufacturer's latest mobile phones exclusively on its network.
The HTC Smart will be sold across Europe by O2's parent company, Spain-based Telefonica, with the device set for an April 2010 release.
It has been designed to offer smartphone features such as a strong mobile internet browsing experience, social networking and email, but unlike some of the high-end HTC handsets it will come with a more affordable price tag.
Chief executive officer of HTC Peter Chou said the HTC Smart will aim to remove the current barriers which are in the way of more widespread uptake of smartphone devices.
"With the HTC Smart, HTC and Telefonica share a similar vision for bringing [an] easy-to-use, affordable smartphone experience to the masses," he added.

The new HTC Windows Mobile 7 smartphone could be unveiled on September 15th 2010. Online retailer Amazon reportedly listed the forthcoming HTC Desire HD on its website.
