Motorola backs TuneWiki to expand music experience for smartphone users
Smartphone users will find that listening to music becomes a social activity after Motorola Ventures has invested in TuneWiki to develop a media player to "dramatically" change how people interact with music.
Motorola has announced that it has invested in TuneWiki through its investment arm to expand its product offerings for the internet and leading mobile platforms.

Through Motorola Ventures, the handset maker has provided financial backing to allow TuneWiki to take advantage of new features found in smartphones.

Reese Schroeder, managing director of Motorola Ventures, said TuneWiki has developed an interactive social media player which can "dramatically change the way people will listen to and interact with music".

"Music is rapidly emerging as a key feature for smartphones and TuneWiki is changing the experience of listening to music from a solitary experience to a social one," he added.

Although the upcoming releases have not been revealed, it is thought that TuneWiki will particularly focus on smartphone features such as high-resolution and larger displays when deciding how to allow mobile phone users to experience music.

Vodafone recently announced that almost 450,000 of its customers had signed up to its music subscription service since digital rights management-free MP3 music deals were signed last year with major record companies.
