About the Samsung Tocco Ultra Red

The Samsung Tocco Ultra Red is one of the most slender smartphones on the market. It is just a few millimetres thick and its brushed finish offsets black and red beautifully. When you slide up the top half of the phone to reveal the physical numeric keypad, the contrast of its two colours is even more pronounced and it proves that Samsung is able to take mobile phone designs to the next level.

The slimness of the Tocco Ultra Red is made possible because it uses AMOLED technology in its screen. Unlike older mobile displays, the Tocco Ultra has no need for a bulky, power-hungry backlight as the AMOLED screen emits light and colour from the individual pixels themselves.

This means that you get extended battery life, better colour reproduction, even brightness throughout and market-leading contrast levels. Since the screen is your gateway to the mobile world, you will be enjoying it every time you use the Samsung Tocco Ultra Red, whether you are watching a video, taking a picture or browsing the internet.

The Tocco Ultra has an 8 megapixel camera located on the rear of the device and this is one feature that sets it apart from other smartphones. It may not have the same kind of versatility that is provided by a true dedicated app download service, but it does have better photographic credentials than the majority of smartphones out there.

The Samsung photography software has face detection and smile recognition built in, so you can set the camera to only capture a snap once everyone is grinning gamely. This also ensures that the autofocus is set appropriately and with the secondary front-facing camera you can conduct video calls over the 3G network connection.

There is a dual LED flash to provide a bit of brightness for those night time shots and the lens itself is protected beneath the battery cover and only revealed when the top half of the phone is slid upwards.

When you tilt the Tocco Ultra sideways to hold it in a landscape orientation, the built in motion sensor will detect this change and rotate the screen to make it easily viewable. This is best used in conjunction with the web browser, or when looking at your picture or watching a video.

The media player software is compatible with video and audio of all types and you can plug in your own 3.5mm standard headphones using the included adaptor which connects to the proprietary port that also serves as the input for the charger.

Along with all these functions, the Tocco Ultra Red has built-in GPS and includes Google Maps as standard. This can be used to find out your location and take a quick tour of the world around you without having to find an atlas or an A to Z and for people who regularly travel to new places it will prove to be most useful.
